Yesterday I was reading an article in Italian and all I was able to understand was that Patrizio Bertelli was saying that Miu Miu wouldn't be returning to Milan Fashion Week. I was in such a hurry I couldn't get it translated and I am not surprised it's now available in English via Vogue UK and other sources. In sum, we will be seeing the Miu Miu fashion show at Paris Fashion Week as we have been seeing it in the past couple of years. Why? Because it's impossible for Miuccia Prada to have time to do both a couple of days apart. It makes sense if you ask me, she will end up super tired, more than she probably already ends up. But us fans do enjoy her work very much and are forever thankful of her vision and design.

"DON'T expect Miu Miu to return to the Milan Fashion Week schedule any time soon. The Italian brand has been a regular fixture at Paris Fashion Week since 2006 - and Miuccia Prada intends for it to stay that way.

Leading Italian brands have been under pressure recently to show in the country's fashion capital ( not least from Giorgio Armani), in order to try and revitalise Milan Fashion Week. But while Prada shows in Milan, sister label Miu Miu doesn't - and according to Prada Group CEO Patrizio Bertelli, that's due to timing.

"Miuccia is in the studio day in and day out and into the night. She creates the shows and follows every aspect, it is materially impossible to create two shows a couple of days apart," he said. "It there were another show a week later - she'd go there!"

The designer herself supported his statement: "It's the way we work, it's impossible. Nobody does it," she said.

Italy's fashion council, the Chamber of Fashion, has recruited a team of high-profile names in a campaign to rejuvenate Milan Fashion Week - including Bertelli, as well as Tod's chief Diego Della Valle, Angela Missoni, Valentino CEO Stefano Sassi, Gucci chairman and CEO Patrizio di Marco, OTB boss Renzo Rosso and designer Silvia Venturini Fendi.

"I look to the future. I was obliged to take part [in the new Chamber projects], the Camera has worked well and Valentino and Renzo Rosso's brands don't show in Milan, either," Bertelli told WWD. "One must not be rigid, but have an expanded vision of things.""

I don't know how to feel about this new style. I love bows, I love Miu Miu and I love anything in the St. Cocco Lux texture but the combination of the three I am not sure I am loving as much as I should. So far nothing compares to patent leather in Miu Miu Wallets.

Yes, I know I am late to this part but I am still going to post the pictures of the The Great Gatsby Prada-Miu Miu Costume Exhibit, which is no longer on display but still, it's not like most of us were going to see it in real life. Oh yes, I wish though!

Back when I started this blog I had a section called "Reasons I love Miu Miu" and though I no longer write it, this exhibit is indeed one of the reasons why I adore Miu Miu!

Vogue UK recently published an article about Miuccia Prada and her magnificent designs for The Great Gatsby. The most interesting part of this article is that Mrs. Prada said her dresses were not originally thought with the 1920's decade in mind but they turned out perfect!

DESPITE the high-octane style associated with Daisy Buchanan and the roaring Twenties, Miuccia Prada says that designing the costumes for the upcoming film adaptation of The Great Gatsby "was not about glamour". The designer adapted 40 dresses from the Prada and Miu Miu archives for the Baz Lurhmann film, including the party dress worn by Carey Mulligan.

"When I read [the book], it was psychological. It was not about glamour for me. It was a real [study of] personality, very internalised," she said. "It was meant to be about light. It became about money, because Luhrmann wanted to show her as the most beautiful and rich woman on earth."

Prada was approached to collaborate with costume designer Catherine Martin, after several Prada and Miu Miu pieces were inadvertently worn during test scenes - and they were found to work really well. The pair then worked together on pieces that evoked the Twenties - without getting too weighed down in "historical pedantry", as Martin puts it.

"The reality is that from 1920, I could find a photo or a fashion illustration that would support almost any choice that we've made in the film," said Martin. "But we are not making a documentary. We are trying to express a story in a way in which Fitzgerald's visceral modernity is able to transgress the plane of the screen."

Prada admits that what intrigued her the most when working on the project was the way in which many of her designs could be so easily translated into Twenties pieces - despite not necessarily being originally created with that era in mind. The dress worn by Mulligan as Buchanan in the big party scenes took its roots from Prada's spring/summer 2010 "chandelier dress".

"That's what interesting. The point of view can transform things so much," she told WWD. "Yes, probably a few [dresses] had that kind of edge, but almost none were meant to be Twenties when I did them. I was really fascinated by that."

An exhibition of selected Prada-Martin costumes will go on display from May 1 to May 12 at the Prada New York Epicenter in New York City. The installation, entitled Catherine Martin and Miuccia Prada Dress Gatsby, will feature women's gowns, accessories and jewellery - alongside sketches, production stills, backstage footage and film trailers. The exhibition will travel to Tokyo in June, then Shanghai in July."
