Miu Miu has presented its new installment in the Miu Miu Women's Tales: The Door directed by Ava DuVernay.
"I look at the films I make as my children, in a way. I love them all because they are a part of me. This is certainly true of The Door. It's the shortest one of my 'kids', but definitely the most well-dressed! As far as themes, lost love is a recurring notion in my work lately. I'm intrigued by who we become when the person we lean on, the person we consider our anchor, is no longer there.
As a filmmaker, I embrace costume design as a crucial element in the creation of my characters and the narrative as a whole. This project with Miu Miu allowed me to delve into that idea even further by actually beginning with the wardrobe and developing characters around the designs as opposed to vice versa.
I admire people who bring new life and energy to make good ideas even greater. From what I know of [Miuccia Prada], she took a family business of a certain size and through focused creativity turned it into a truly legendary fashion empire. That's amazing and admirable."
